I a...Inclusivity is not all it is cranked up to be. I agree with you. Whenever I am in a boasted inclusive parish it strikes me as another display of the "birds of a feather" phenom. It is tough to get around this. truly this is a catch-22 in the Joseph Heller sense.
I lost chance to be a rector of a self-defined inclusive parish. During a relaxed after-interview moment I unguardedly shared: "Diversity is a lot of work." I meant by this that it is very difficult to lead forward an inclusive/diverse congregation and not just end up with more of the same sort of person.
Evangelism? Just evangelize. It is a charism that not everyone has. for instance, "evangelicals" are usually very poor (and cowardly) evangelists. Somebody needs to really: want to, pray to, try to ... know others enough to get alongside their hopes, struggles, and pleasures and honestly say: "Oh yeah? Me too... and this is how it comes together for me in Christ ...have you ever heard such a thing? ..."
Evangelize: Just do it.Maxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15645795960008188795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6748102197325960995.post-59478394104652746162012-01-10T18:54:27.107-08:002012-01-10T18:54:27.107-08:00Mark Given (St. Paul's Oak Cliff)
Evangelism ...Mark Given (St. Paul's Oak Cliff)

Evangelism is a particular charism that some people have and some do not. "Evangelicals" are very poor, cowardly evangelists.
Inclusivity is just another one of those "-ity" words: spirituality, sensitivity.
Inclusitity is very rare and where it does seem to happen it exists as a club for those who like inclusivity. a joke! a catch 22 in the true sense of the original meaning!! I lost an interview for rectorship once when I said in an unguarded manner: "Diversity is not all its cranked up to be." A diverse congregation is very difficult to lead in the same direction forward.
Basically I find it easy to eschew all Episco-lex and put it in my own words. Evangelize? People need to: Want to, pray to, try to know something about someone else's hope/struggle and honestly say:"Oh yeah, me too! Here is how it comes together for me in Christ ... and ... have you ever considered it this way before ...?"
Just do it!Maxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15645795960008188795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6748102197325960995.post-30240491681191908612012-01-10T12:56:21.698-08:002012-01-10T12:56:21.698-08:00I couldn't agree more!!!
