As a culture, I think we are in danger of losing the meaning of true friendship. <br /><br />Networking - whether online or in person is essentially utilitarian. I'm going to connect with as many people as can in hopes that if I am in a position where their position will be of benefit to me, I can access it. <br /><br />Many people are more interested in what is going on in the lives of people on "reality" TV shows than they are in their neighbors, co-workers, and other actual acquaintances.<br /><br />I know a lot of people, but very few of them do I consider friends. But, I think I probably have far more real friends than most people.
